ABOUT WORDS:
"Words! Words! Words!
I'm so sick of words!
I get words all day through;
First from him, now from you!
Is that all you blighters can do?"
Eliza Doolittle was frustrated that the men in her life just wanted to talk, while she would have liked some romantic action. Nevertheless, where would we be without words? Where would I be without words, and the books that contain them.
A voracious consumer of books from an early age,
I tend to binge read - series, author, topic - starting with Enid Blyton ( Noddy, The Famous Five, the Adventure series); Nancy Drew; the Hardy Boys; Hammond Innes; Wilbur Smith; Dick Francis; the Poldark saga; the Raj Quartet and others; to Harry Potter which became a bit of an obsession, and on to gardening, compost and the environment.
